PARTICIPANT INFORMATION STATEMENT
Exploring individual differences in personality, attachment, and perceived ostracism
The purpose of the research is to explore individual differences in personality, attachment, and perceived ostracism. Research has shown that feeling ostracized (e.g., ignored, excluded) can be painful (e.g., Williams, 2009), but there is little research exploring how such experiences relate to differences in personality and attachment history.
The research project is being conducted by Dr Daniel Waldeck (Assistant Professor in Psychology) at Coventry University. You have been selected to take part in this questionnaire survey because you are aged 18+ and have an interest in the topic area. Your participation in the survey is entirely voluntary, and you can opt out at any stage by closing and exiting the browser. If you are happy to take part, please answer the following questions relating to personality, style of attachment, and perceived ostracism. Your answers will help us to gain a better understanding as to how individual differences in personality and attachment link with perceived ostracism. The survey should take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. You have the opportunity to opt-in to a prize raffle draw (£50 [or equivalent] in another currency) If you opt to do this you will be asked to provide an email address in order to email you should you win the prize. As soon as data collection is complete (30/11/2023), all email addresses will be immediately separated from the dataset (which itself is anonymized), and the email addresses will be deleted immediately upon completion of the prize raffle draw (01/12/2023).
Your answers will be treated confidentially and the information you provide will be kept anonymous in any research outputs/publications. Your data will be held securely in the CU OneDrive Portal. All data will be deleted by 01/07/2028.
The research was granted ethical approval by Coventry University’s Research Ethics Committee (P161696).
For further information, or if you have any queries, please contact the lead researcher Dr Daniel Waldeck. If you have any concerns that cannot be resolved through the lead researcher, please contact Ethics Department, Coventry University, CV1 5FB. Email: ethics.uni@coventry.ac.uk.
